Raw Walnut Brownies

These raw brownies are absolutely delicious. This is a super easy recipe that you can make and be ready to eat in 15 minutes. I remember making cooked brownies and hating to have to wait for 50 minutes to let it cool. Sometimes I didn’t wait and they fell apart trying to get them out of the pan. With this recipe you can eat them right away! Make a double batch! You wont’ be sorry 🙂

Can you believe you can make brownies in 15 minutes? With this recipe you can.

Serves: 6-8 Servings
  • 1 ½ cups raw walnuts, unsoaked
  • Dash salt
  • 10 pitted medjool dates, unsoaked
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened raw cocoa powder or carob powder
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons water (for a moister brownie, optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped dried cherries (optional)
  1. Chop ¼ cup of the walnuts and set aside.
  2. Place the remaining walnuts and salt in a food processor fitted with the S blade and process until finely ground.
  3. Add the dates and process until mixture sticks together.
  4. Add the cocoa powder and optional vanilla and process until evenly distributed.
  5. Add the water, if using, and process briefly.
  6. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
  7. Add the reserved chopped walnuts and dried cherries, if desired, and mix well using your hands. Pack the mixture firmly into a square container.
  8. Stored in a sealed container, Brownies will keep for up to one week in the refrigerator or one month in the freezer.

What are alternatives for those with nut allergies?

Nuts can be a problem. You can use seeds such as sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. Also try using buckwheat. I have been experimenting with different things myself. Will post a recipe once I get one I really like.

Hi Ama,
One variation on this recipe is that I used cashes vice walnuts.
